Hi all!
On Martin Buser's site, they have the web address of the FAA webcameras in Alaska. A lot of the cameras are at remote locations, and several are at race checkpoints. They are pretty neat to view. Google either Martin Buser or Happy Trails Kennel to find his site. They also post photos and reports on that site; one photo in particular is great to demonstrate the long hours of darkness. It's of his son Rohn, preparing for a training run at 10 in the morning. My students got a really accurate idea of what a team looks like when it's running and the landscape of Alaska from the photos on this site.

Hi Martha,
Just after I finished reading the updates on Buser's site, I saw your comment- good call! Mom does an excellent job of keeping it updated and full of good suggestions. Another site - www.sleddogpodcast.com has great interviews - learned from the Lance Mackey interview that he and his wife are planning to go on the TV show "Wife Swap"...!
Trying to get everything finished before leaving for Alaska - am so excited to finally see (and volunteer at)a race. It makes me think of all our adventures this summer- such fun.
Stay warm! - Ann
