Fellow participants,
This picture I took while in AK reminds me of you. It is a field of beautiful wild irises. You all showed your beauty as teachers and people, as well as your "wild" a.k.a. creative side. I can't thank you enough for sharing your ideas; I truly believe it is through other teachers that I gain the most that I can use to be better myself. Enjoy what time you have this summer, keep those ideas you've brought back with you milling around in your mind - ruminate on them, if you will. Rest, relax, refresh, and rejuvinate. I can't wait to hear from you all and what "Idita"ideas you have for school next fall.
Wag more, bark less,
Jane

Jane,
That is a great picture! The flowers in Alaska are unbelievable. Count on my class for a quilt. I will see if I can get my colleagues to join in also.
Take care and stay cool!!!

Jane,
Thanks for your inspiration at the conference. I am ALMOST ready to begin school - just getting excited to share my summer with the kids! I've made my quilt plans! I am going to feature the star saying that was on the bookmards and have the kids do some artwork to illustrate what it means to them to be a shining star. Rick Holt, the rookie musher I interviewed, has taught at Unalakleet and another village on the trail (I can't remember and haven't unpacked all that yet), so I would like for our quilt to go to one of those schools. He also is going to try to connect us with a classroom from whichever one we choose, and he hopes to be able to do a live web-cast when he arrives there, to chat with our kids. He also wants to set up a live webcast prior to the race for the students to ask him questions, etc.

Let me know if you think I will be able to send my quilt to Unalakleet (or the other school - I can let you know which it is when I unpack).

Hope you can relax a little before school starts!
Debbie
