Hey participants,
I'm looking forward to meeting with and working with you all! For some, this is a trip full of firsts, for others maybe a repeat trip to Alaska but with new experiences, and for still others of us, a repeat of the summer conference. Whatever brings you here in June from wherever you are, you can be sure to have an enriching, motivating, fun, and memorabale experience. It will be so fun to find our common threads over the week.
Wag more, bark less,

Jane,
I, too, am anxious to get to Alaska and meet everyone at the conference. The Iditarod has created alot of excitement at my school and I can't wait to share my experiences this summer with the students. This will be my second visit to Alaska since my son moved their last year. I'll be arriving in AK on the 20th to spend a few days with him before the conference. It will be fun to hear what has brought each of the attendees to the conference!

Harrisonville, Missouri (where the scenic views consist of corn fields, turf farms and cow pastures!)
Debbie,
I moved to Pphoenix from St. Louis, MO, having grown up in central IL, and believe it or not, I really enjoy the corn fields and cow pastures when I go back. Where in Missouri is Harrisonville?
Jane, what a small world - I grew up in south/central Illinois, too! Mascoutah, to be exact - near Scott AFB and Belleville, IL. We moved to KC when I was in HS. Harrisonville is about 40 miles south of KC (but much closer to the suburbs). We have the best of both worlds here - small town (pop. 8000), but close enough to enjoy the benefits of the city. Unfortunately, most of us commute to KC or the suburbs, and we do pay the price at the pump!
I hear you will be flying in to Anch. on Wed. I, too will be arriving on Wed. and my flight does go through Phoenix. Diane mentioned that you are flying Alaska Air, flight 736. I am flying US Air, flight 33. What will you be doing the days before the conference? Who would think a dog race could shring the world so much?
Hey Debbie,
My whole family is from Baldwin, Red Bud, and Sparta, IL. My sister lives in Collinsville and my niece is marrying a guy from Scott Air Force Base. I drove through Mascoutah just a few weeks ago. What a small world! When we get talking, we might find we know some of the same people! I am busy working with Diane Johnson the first days I get there. We are teaching a class for the Univeristy of Alaska. Then we are hosting an open house for Alaska educator's at Iditarod Headquarters that Saturday before. The terminal you'll be flying through is very nice, good shopping and eating, so if you have some time, you'll be comfortable. See you next week!
